Process
All web sites, from a simple informational brochure site to a huge database-driven e-commerce site
will follow a general design process as follows:
| |
1 |
NEEDS AND REQUIREMENTS ASSESSMENT
This will be a meeting to discuss what you, the client, need and expect in a web site.
It will often be in a face to face meeting, but could be via email or phone. |
2 |
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OUTLINED
During this period, the flow of the web site will be thought out and all the
specifications, as listed in the Needs and Requirements Assessment, will be carefully
plotted. We will create a proposal giving the client a definitive cost estimate for
proposed work. Cost can change if the scope of work changes. |
3 |
DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
This is when we will code the pages, resulting in a working site incorporating your
"look-and-feel" and content. |
4 |
TESTING
Before submitting the site to the public, extensive testing must occur. Note that you, the client,
will share responsibility for the testing since it is your information we are trying to impart. |
5 |
OFFICIAL DEPLOYMENT OF WEBSITE
The site is unveiled!
In complex sites, the site may be deployed in several phases, repeating steps two through five. |
6 |
WEB SITE PROMOTION
Once the site is ready for public scrutiny, search engine registration and other marketing tools begin. |
7 |
MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT
The site should never be considered "finished". Such things as search engine submission, updating
the content for freshness and monitoring links are continuous. |
